This week between all of the singing and dancing we talked about Pollution. We had loaned Teacher S and Teacher M in the Big Room one of our signs from Cal-Trans. It was the Keep California Clean sign. I brought this sign to circle time with a book about Max this Monster who didn’t use the garbage can to throw his trash away. Max would leave his trash on the ground. When I asked your children “Do you throw your empty wrappers and papers on the ground?” a unanimous “No” rang out. Then R said ” The garbage truck takes the garbage from the can.” This conversation lead to putting the ‘Keep California Clean’ sign outside in our car yard. Teacher S put a garbage can right next to the sign. Your children then proceeded to search for any kind of trash in our yard. When only one piece of paper could be found your children decided to pick up leaves and throw them in the garbage can. ART: This week your children made a collage with the colors red, orange, yellow and green. These colors represented the color of signs that they have been studying. The children also made drawings with oil crayons and paintings with liquid water colors. Play dough was also a favorite this week.
